Arrival in Paro & Transfer to Thimphu Morning: • Arrive at Paro Airport – enjoy stunning views of the Himalayas during your flight • After immigration formalities, transfer to Thimphu (55 km / 1.5 hrs drive) Afternoon: • Check into hotel in Thimphu • Visit Memorial Chorten – built in memory of Bhutan's third King, Jigme Dorji Wangchuk, with fascinating Buddhist paintings and statues • Visit Buddha Point (Kuensel Phodrang) – enjoy panoramic views of Thimphu Valley and the large Buddha statue Evening: • Visit Trashichhoedzong – a fortress and the seat of the government and religion • Explore Thimphu city and enjoy the peaceful, traffic-light-free atmosphere Overnight: Thimphu

Day 2 - Thimphu - Punakha

Thimphu to Punakha Morning: • After breakfast, drive to Punakha (75 km / 3 hrs drive) via Do Chula Pass • Stop at Do Chula Pass to admire the views of the eastern Himalayas and the chorten with prayer flags Afternoon: • Visit Punakha Dzong, also known as the Palace of Great Happiness – a majestic fortress at the confluence of the Phochu and Mochu rivers • Lunch at a local restaurant Evening: • Visit Chimi Lhakhang – the temple of fertility, located on a hillock with scenic views • Walk through rice fields and villages around the temple, getting a glimpse of the local lifestyle Overnight: Punakha
